I became interested in photography just over 20 years ago and at that time I took photographs of anything and everything with great enthusiasm. My enthusiasm has not waned over the years but I have become much more selective in my approach. Whilst I have ventured abroad my real interest is in the landscape of Britain in all its moods and facets. The weather in this country is so wonderful, if the lighting is not right for a particular scene; one only has to wait a few minutes for it to change. Even on the worst of days there are still photographic opportunities to be had in our countryside.
All my early work was done in the darkroom and I still enjoy working in that ‘atmosphere’ although these days it is mainly confined to the winter months. The photographs seen here are taken digitally – as this seems to be the flavour of the month and one has to keep up with the trends. But a beautifully toned, monochrome darkroom print taken anywhere in this country is still a joy to behold!
