Fine Arts and Frames

My Name is Jonathan Ben-Abeer and I am a Cleethorpes based Artist. My latest work is an investigation entitled ‘Cellular’.  Normally I would say that I am a sculptor but after finishing my BA (Hons) in Fine & Applied Art in 2009 I have no longer the facilities to create 3D pieces. 

 For that reason I decided to channel a medium that would enable me to continue to be creative and after a lot of thought I decided to use pen and ink as I had produced some interesting work on the course, using this medium.  To enable me to experiment and develop this medium I needed to engage and focus in a far more intense manner.  I became entranced with the process, which meant that I had to shut down my external awareness of outward distractions.  The focus for me became the point of the pen and my rhythmic breathing. This formed the basis on which the work progressed.  I found that abstraction, form and the indulgence of vibrant colouration became the driving force for my work.
